January 17, 2018, Atlanta, GA—Organizational Development Resource Group, LLC (ODRG) launches the first-ever interactive and informative Human Trafficking Awareness and Capacity Building Training program, funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), Region 4, in collaboration with the Atlanta Public School System (APS). The ODRG Training and Capacity Building Program for APS personnel includes over 150 nurses, psychologists, social workers, and counselors. Additionally, ODRG’s training participants are representatives of law enforcement; health/medical community entities, women’s health organization, and other organizations that serve or interact with potential and actual victims of persons trafficked.

ODRG’s Human Trafficking Subject Matter Experts training address major aspects of human trafficking including sexual exploitation, forced labor, and domestic servitude. The training outlined ways to:
• Prevent human trafficking from occurring by engaging at-risk youth before trafficking occurs
• Identify potential cases of trafficking that may be occurring, particularly in a school setting
• Respond to potential cases by alerting the proper channels within the administration

ODRG’s robust training model uses a customized train-the-trainer toolkit, with the capacity to develop human trafficking awareness “champions” known as “Human Trafficking Specialist(s)” for the Atlanta Public School System. Human Trafficking Specialists serve as the designated resources partner, equipped with the necessary information and skills to effectively redeliver the Human Trafficking Awareness training to their colleagues at designated schools.

The ODRG approach enables school personnel across Atlanta the opportunity to become part of the ODRG Human Trafficking Network (HTN) to share knowledge, tools, and resources in support of raising awareness of human trafficking and fighting against modern day slavery on an ongoing basis.
